TAP has not forgotten the little ones, and ensures special conditions for those travelling with children:

  • A baby up to 2 years old can travel sitting on an adult's lap;
  • A child between 2 and 11 years old (inclusive) must book a seat.

Children under 12 travelling alone are considered unaccompanied minors. Certain rules must be complied with when they travel with TAP.
It is not possible to make an online reservation in this case, you must contact your nearest TAP Office.

Yes. Children between 5 and 11 years (inclusive) may travel as "unaccompanied minors":
  • You must inform us when booking that your child will be travelling alone;
  • On the day of the flight, please go to the special assistance check-in desk so that aTAP staff member can accompany the child to the aircraft. From then on the cabin crew will be responsible for the child;
  • On arrival at the destination, the child will remain accompanied until they are handed over to the person responsible for him;
For children from 3 months to 5 years (inclusive) you can request the personal companion service, for which there is also an associated cost.Find out more on here.
If you are travelling with a baby, you can request a free cot for flights operated by TAP, under certain conditions.

Yes. Infant car seats are allowed on TAP aircraft for children under 5, but under certain conditions.

Your baby can remain in the pushchair until reaching the door of the aircraft.After that, TAP will take care of it, keeping it in the hold.It will be waiting for your baby when you reach your destination.
Yes. TAP allows you to bring infant food in your hand luggage, but only for consumption during the flight. Please note that you must comply with restrictions related to carrying liquids.
If your child turns 2 during the trip, a child ticket must be issued at the start.
